1914-1918 - 1939-1945: IN THIS CEMETERY ARE THE GRAVES OF FIVE HUNDRED AND SIXTY THREE COMMONWEALTH SAILORS, SOLDIERS AND AIRMEN AND ONE NURSING SISTER WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN IRAN DURING THE TWO WORLD WARS. THE NAMES OF THREE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY OF THEIR COMRADES WHO DIED IN IRAN AND IN NEIGHBOURING LANDS DURING THE WAR OF 1914-1918 AND WHO HAVE NO KNOWN GRAVE ARE INSCRIBED ON THESE MONUMENTS.

George Staunton Husband, Captain, D.S.O., I.M.S., was the second son of the late Rev. C. T. Husband. He was educated at the Jamaica College, won the Jamaica Scholarship in 1898 and proceeded to Edinburgh University where he graduated M.B., Ch.B., in 1904. In February, 1907, he entered the Indian Medical Service as a Lieutenant and was promoted to Captain in February, 1910. In November, 1914, he was posted to act as medical officer of the 69th Punjabis and in 1916 specifically of the 9th Bhopal Infantry, which served in Mesopotamia 1915-8. Throughout the war he served in various theatres of war, and received the D.S.O. on June 3rd, 1916. He died on February 21, 1917. [I have not so far found any information on the cause or location of his death.]
